and have we decided how were getting down there? cause the trains gonna be quite expensive i think, kirsty you need to learn to drive dammit It's about a 2 hour walk x_x (no tubes from barking) Umm.. probably train (its £16 each way if you get in advance) but I'm trying to convince my parents to let me drive down.. FINGERS CROSSED! If I'm driving by then, I'll be able to take 3, maybe 4 people down (only problem with taking 4 would be room what with everyone's stuff).

| £16 is the cheapest you can get them (they are advance tickets).. you can't even get to Sheffield for that anymore x____x *considers student rail card* | |

You have to pay quite a lot to get the student rail card, and you need to catch a lot of trains for it to really pay off I had one when I was going back and forth between Nottingham a lot and I had to average something like 1 trip every 6 weeks for it to actually save me any money, I've no idea what you'd have to spend for it to be worth it now that trains are really expensive.

| Trains are cheaper the earlier you book. I also think fares on main lines are going/ have gone up recently, there was a big fuss about it being an above inflation increase. -so ends another random interjection- | |

| I'm hoping to book a room for the three nights too...
But it'll be selfish to have a room to myself with some of us going...
So any two people who want to split a room with me say so now.

| i'm wondering if it might not be a bad idea to get a train back on the sunday instead of the monday seeing as mondays a bank holiday and trains will be seriously packed.
As far as trains are concerned i was reading an interesting article in the paper while waiting for me curry, apparently they can be cheaper if you book an advanced ticket quite late on (even on the very day your leaving) also its apparently cheaper to buy 2 tickets for parts of the journey than it is to buy one ticket e.g grimsby to manchester and manchester to london instead of grimsby to london.
Apparently if you look at virgin trains website you can find a deal each month that will allow you to travel from manchester to london from between £1 to £10 a hefty saving

| Newark is a horrible place to change, it actually has 2 stations and sometimes you have to walk between them carrying all of your stuff, which is a bastard to do. | |

| After Newark I'm quite happy as long as the train I have to get onto is at the same station as the train I just got off. | |

| Well, if I don't drive and get the train then I'll just take the easy option and change at Doncaster.. I've never thought it was that bad o_O | |
